After deciding to start the Belicious Green Smoothie truck, the obvious next step was to get a truck. So, I contacted Bryan at Las Vegas Freightliner who had the exact model van I was looking for! It was a new experience for both of us. I having never bought a big windowless van, and for him never having sold such a large vehicle to a young, attractive woman before. :-) And just like that, the Belicious Green Smoothie Truck was born.
Here are some first pics:

Other trucks for sale at Freighliner. I'm loving those colors!
Yesterday Paige (left) and I (right) attended the Stand Up To Cancer live telethon. After the show we accosted Dr. Oz to take a picture and tell him about Belicious Smoothies. Although the conversation was brief, he suggested we talk to Ryan Seacrest (a fellow health enthusiast). This in fact was already part of our master plan in spreading the green smoothie. We must get a smoothie to Ryan Seacrest! Thanks Dr. Oz!
(ps, anyone who connects us directly to Ryan will gets LOTS of free green smoothies :-)I got interested in green smoothies when a friend of ours gave us a Vitamix blender as a very early wedding gift.
She had read this book, Eat to Live, and she was so excited that she gave us the blender 6 months early. So I got this industrial blender, and I had no idea what to do with it. I stared at it for two months, totally intimidated by it. Then she emailed me a recipe for a green smoothie — with chocolate, cherries and leafy greens. So I tried it out. And I was really surprised at how good it was. Then I read the book, Eat to Live, and learned about how good dark leafy greens and berries are for you. It really opened my eyes to better nutrition. I started making different variations of the green smoothie for my husband and me. We were loving them and having them every day. I started passing the recipes around to my friends and my family. They started making them too. We were all on the green smoothie bandwagon. I was working as a speech pathologist at the time and decided to attend a conference on nutrition and child development. I’m sitting in the audience and the speaker starts talking about how she loves to give kids McDonalds as a reward. What? I’m thinking about how kids need better nutrition, and here she is talking about giving kids McDonalds. I spent the rest of the conference checking email on this nutrition group I belong to about green smoothies. After the conference I went to a friend’s house and was talking about how frustrated I was. We started talking about what we both knew about nutrition, and lamenting that if only we could spread the word we could make a real difference. Secretly, I’d been mulling over the idea of getting food truck and selling green smoothies. So I just blurted it out, “I’m going to make a green smoothie truck!” And from that moment on, it’s totally taken on a life of its own. I’ve never been more excited about creating anything in my life. I went home and sent out an email to my nutrition group friends, asking what they thought of the idea. And everybody loved it. As I’ve been going along, everything has been amazing and just falling into place. And everybody has been totally supportive and thrilled. And I’m repeatedly surprised by people’s enthusiasm about it. Of course, I’m excited about it. But I’m impressed with how excited other people get when they hear about it. So I got a truck. The city approved the plans. And construction is underway. Get ready to Belicious. The green smoothie revolution is coming.
